The attention of the Media Office of Honourable Wole Oke has been drawn to a reckless, inflammatory and deeply irresponsible publication credited to the Osun State Government’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, in which outrageous allegations were made against Honourable Wole Oke, his aide and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the unfortunate death of Mr. Aderogba in Esa-Oke.

We state without hesitation that the attempt to exploit a painful human tragedy for political propaganda is disgraceful, insensitive and dangerous.

It is shocking that a government spokesman would abandon the duty of promoting calm, justice and responsible leadership, only to turn himself into an investigator, prosecutor, judge and political campaigner in one breath. A murder allegation is not a campaign slogan. It is a criminal matter that must be investigated by competent security agencies, not manufactured through emotional speeches, politically induced narratives and media trial.

Honourable Wole Oke has no connection whatsoever with the killing of Mr. Aderogba, and neither has he authorised, encouraged, sponsored or directed any individual to harm any resident of Esa-Oke or any part of Osun State.

The insinuation that an aide of Honourable Oke allegedly invited the deceased to a meeting, or that such an invitation is somehow connected to the tragedy, is a desperate attempt to create suspicion where there is no evidence. If the government or any individual possesses credible evidence against anyone, the proper place to submit it is before the police and relevant investigative authorities not on partisan platforms designed to whip up anger and incite the public.

We find it particularly disturbing that Governor Ademola Adeleke, who ought to be leading efforts to calm nerves and ensure an impartial investigation, has chosen to publicly pronounce political opponents guilty before any police investigation is concluded.

That conduct raises serious questions: Is the Osun State Government interested in justice, or is it merely seeking political mileage ahead of the election?

The people of Osun must not be deceived. Those who are unable to explain their failures in governance often search for enemies. Those who fear the verdict of the people at the polls often attempt to weaponise grief, fabricate villains and spread dangerous propaganda against perceived opponents.

Honourable Wole Oke remains committed to peace, democracy and the safety of every resident of Osun State, irrespective of political affiliation. He has consistently rejected violence and will never be part of any plot to destabilise his constituency or endanger innocent lives.

We therefore demand the following:

● An immediate, thorough, transparent and independent investigation into the killing of Mr. Aderogba.

● The arrest and prosecution of whoever is found culpable, regardless of political affiliation.

● The immediate withdrawal of all reckless and unsubstantiated allegations against Honourable Wole Oke and his aides.

● A public apology from the writer and promoters of the publication for attempting to drag Honourable Wole Oke’s name into a criminal matter without proof.

● An end to the use of government communication channels for inflammatory political propaganda.

Let it be clear: Honourable Wole Oke will not be intimidated by falsehood, blackmail or orchestrated character assassination. The truth will prevail, and those seeking to turn the blood of a citizen into political capital will ultimately be judged by the people of Osun.

The death of Mr. Aderogba is a tragedy that deserves justice, not propaganda.
