A middle-aged man, Olawuyi Olayinka, has urged an Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo, to dissolve his marriage over frequent assault and insult by his wife, Ibidapo.

Led in evidence by his counsel, Sekinat Adeigbe, on Monday, Olayinka told the court that his wife always wanted to control the house because she possesses Master of Science in guidance and counselling, while he still holds National Certificate in Education (NCE).

According to the petitioner, the marriage started on December 27, 2018 but problem started in 2019 when his wife started to behave as the head of the house.

Olayinka told the court that he was working as a staff of Osun college of education, Ila-Orangun, at the electronic library department when they met.

“She’s well read than me. She has MSc in guidance and counselling while I have NCE in computer science and biology.

“She stopped me from moving close to her since she was pregnant. We had our first child in April 2020. She had slapped me twice over minor issue,” Olayinka said.

He explained further that he left home in July 2020 after intervention by the two parents failed to yield good result and the assault continues.

“My mother said our father did not raise his hands on her and warned me that I should not beat my wife. I left home when I couldn’t bear the assault again,” Olayinka said.
