The Director of Sexual Orientation, Research and Innovation, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS South-West), Comrade Lateef Sofiyah Taiwo has said explained that Nigeria needs young people that would elevate it to the league of leading countries in inventions.
Comrade Sofiyah noted that  the Government of the day need to take innovation and research very important.
She stated this while addressing newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Saturday.
According to her, “In the ever-evolving landscape of education, the role of schools in shaping the future of a society cannot be underestimated. However, the approach taken by schools in Nigeria seems to be veering away from the path of innovation and progress, leading to a situation where suffering and hardship are inadvertently becoming the norm.
“I firmly believe that a nation’s progress is deeply intertwined with its education system. Nigeria, a nation rich in culture and potential, has been grappling with a myriad of challenges within its education sector.
“While the intention to build a strong society is evident, the prevailing methods employed by many schools often lead to unintended hardships for students and hinder the nation’s progress. Rote memorization, outdated curriculum, and a lack of practical skills development have contributed to an education system that struggles to prepare students for the complexities of the modern world.
“Campaign for Revamping Curriculum in our institutions. In the next few months, we would commence Campaign for Dynamic Teaching Methodologies Campaign for Integration of Technology: Beyond the Classroom Walls, Campaign for the Empowering of Educators in all our institutions and Primary and Secondary Schools in Southwest.”.
