The Ogun State government has signed a memorandum of cooperation with traditional rulers and community development associations of host communities to the Gateway International Airport, Ilisan Remo.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Gbenga Dairo, led the government delegation to the stakeholders’ meeting and signing of the memorandum, held on the airport premises.
Dairo, in a statement on Thursday, said the meeting held at the instance of the Ministry of Transportation was crucial to sustaining peaceful coexistence among the various communities whose landed properties were acquired for the airport project.
The commissioner said, “The issues of compensation to the families whose lands were taken for the project, boundaries of the two major towns hosting the airport, the local contents and Indigenous employment opportunities have been taken care of.
“However, the ministry will not leave any stone unturned, hence, the need for this important engagement aimed at finding solutions to any other form of grievances and areas of concerns.”
