The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Osun Command, has appealed to Hospitality business owners in the state against accommodating illicit drug users in their facilities.

The Osun Commander of the NDLEA, Mr Chidi Nnadi while giving the warning at a workshop organised for Business Owners Association in the state, highlighted the dangers it can caused to their business.

The workshop according to the commander is aimed at training supervisors of workplace to also enlighten their staffs and customers on the effect of drugs on their productivity and lives, adding that their facility will become drug havens if drug users are allowed.

He said: “There is no war that can be fought and won by a single individual or Agency and the drug war is not an exemption. It is on this premise, that this collaboration between NDLEA and Osun State hospitality owners deemed it expedient to hold this seminar and jointly fight the drug menace to a standstill.

“This seminar is the first in the series as the target audiences are frontline managers who by our estimation, know your major customers, your employees and oversee activities.

“This seminar will avail us the opportunity to brainstorm, and collectively strategize to fight the drug war collectively.”

The commander further disclosed that in the last two years, the command under his watch has arrested 645 suspects with total cannabis farm destruction 15.8 hectares amounting to 39.500 tons of cannabis sativa while over 117 suspects were successfully convicted.

OSUN DEFENDER had in its July 14, 2023 reported that the advent and increase in the hospitality business in the state has contributed immensely to the prevalence of drug abuse in the state.
