APC Crisis Deepens In Kano Ganduje, Barau Hold Parallel Meetings

The lingering disagreement between two major factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State took a dramatic turn as loyalists of Senator Barau Jibrin and supporters of Abdullahi Ganduje held parallel stakeholders’ meetings in Kano Municipal Local Government Area.

The development has further exposed what party insiders describe as a deepening crisis within the ruling party in the state.

The stakeholders’ meeting, which was reportedly planned to promote unity and strengthen internal cohesion within the party, instead ended up being held at different venues, reflecting growing rivalry and mistrust among party leaders.

Observers say the parallel gatherings clearly indicate that reconciliation efforts within the Kano APC have yet to yield meaningful results.

BEYOND AFRICA leanrt that the faction loyal to Ganduje held its meeting within Kano Municipal and was attended by prominent party leaders and stakeholders.

Those present included the APC Chairman of Kano Municipal, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Mai Fata Sharada; Muntari Ishaq Yakasai; Baffa Babba Dan’agundi; Engr. Sagir Koki; Hon. Salim Hashim Gwangwazo; Nura Hussain; Hon. Nabil Sarki Daneji; Hon. Ibrahim Kankarofi; Hon. Kabiru Labour; Alhaji Kabiru Rabi’u; Malam Garba Yusuf Abubakar; and Hon. Aliko Shuaibu Mukhtar.

Some commissioners and special advisers were also in attendance. However, Hon. Sha’aban Ibrahim Sharada was said to have sent his apologies.

According to Daily Post, party sources said discussions at the meeting centred on consolidating the faction’s structure and strengthening its grip ahead of future political engagements.

At the same time, another meeting loyal to Senator Barau I. Jibrin was held at the Sultanate Suite.

The meeting was led by Hon. Salisu Maje Ahmad Gwangwazo, popularly known as Alhajin Baba, and Malam Muhammad Ibrahim Kankarofi.

Participants included Hamza Darma, Alhaji Faruq Iya, Fa’izu Alfindiki, Hon. Dan Bello Aminu, former Managing Director Uba Zubairu Yakasai, and former Managing Director Arc. Sulaiman, former Managing Director, Engr. Garba Ahmed Kofar Wambai; Hajiya Rabi Aminu Me-Mai; Hon. Nasiru Hanga; Hon. Mu’azzam Marafa; Alhaji Nasiru Uwe; Alhaji Dauda Raula; and Hon. Na Balalu Mai Turare, among others.

Sources at the meeting disclosed that key party members and former public office holders deliberated on strategies and reportedly passed resolutions concerning the future direction of the party in the state.

Naija News reports that the leadership crisis within the APC in Kano Municipal did not begin recently.

It is worth noting that disagreements between supporters of Ganduje and loyalists of Senator Barau had existed long before the recent political realignments in the state.

The rivalry has intensified with shifting alliances and internal power struggles within the party structure.
