Over 100 women across the Federal Capital Territory are set to benefit from a transformative empowerment conference thanks to a new initiative by the Amina Agbo Foundation (TAAF), which has begun mobilizing partnerships with prominent national institutions.
On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the Foundation’s Founder and Regional Coordinator, Dr. Sarah Ogah-Aduwari, led a delegation on courtesy visits to the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) and the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS). The goal was to secure collaboration and support for TAAF’s flagship event, the EHI Project, which is scheduled for November this year.
The EHI Project is a unique empowerment conference designed for vulnerable and economically disadvantaged women. It features hands-on skills training in areas like catering, tailoring, and soap-making; mental health sessions to address trauma; business mentorship; and startup support.
“This isn’t just a conference—it’s a life-changing experience,” said Dr. Ogah-Aduwari. “We’re reaching women who are often forgotten by society and giving them the tools to stand tall economically, emotionally, and socially.”
In her address at the AANI Secretariat, she called on the association to provide financial support, mentors, facilitators, and logistical assistance for the upcoming program. The AANI leadership praised the initiative and expressed willingness to contribute.
Later that day, the Foundation was warmly received at NCWS by its National President, Princess Edna DD Azura. She gave a brief history of NCWS’s dedication to empowering Nigerian women since 1965 and lauded TAAF’s goals as being “perfectly aligned” with theirs.
“This is exactly the kind of collaboration we look forward to,” she said. “We are open to working with the Foundation to ensure that no woman is left behind.”
Dr. Ogah-Aduwari also used the visit to introduce other TAAF projects including the Dorcas Project (for widows and displaced women), J-NILE (targeted at at-risk youths), and Talitakumi (focused on grassroots education and health).
As the countdown to November begins, expectations are high that the partnerships with AANI and NCWS will strengthen implementation and scale-up outreach. TAAF hopes to make this Abuja conference a model for women’s empowerment across Nigeria.
