The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has sent greetings to their members across the world on this year eid-el-fitr celebration while calling for a peace coexistence among them.
The students body in a statement by the Senate Clerk, Sen. Comrade Oladimeji Uthman urged Muslim brothers and sisters to uphold the lessons and Significance of the holy Month.
The copy of the statement made available to BEYOND AFRICA reads: “To our esteemed Muslim brothers and sisters, as we joyfully celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, I extend heartfelt greetings and warm wishes on behalf of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Senate Secretariat.
“This auspicious occasion holds profound significance, not only for our Muslim community but for all of us who cherish the values of peace, compassion, and solidarity.
“Eid-El-Fitr, often referred to as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, serves as a reminder of the spiritual journey undertaken during the holy month of Ramadan. It is a time of reflection, renewal, and gratitude for the countless blessings bestowed upon us.
“Throughout Ramadan, Muslim brothers and sisters have demonstrated unwavering devotion through fasting, prayer, and acts of charity, embodying the spirit of self-discipline and compassion.
“As we come together to celebrate Eid, let us embrace the lessons of Ramadan and strive to foster greater understanding, harmony, and tolerance within our diverse society. Now more than ever, in the face of challenges and uncertainties, unity and solidarity are indispensable.
“Regardless of our differences in faith, ethnicity, or background, we are bound by our common humanity and shared aspirations for a better tomorrow.
“On this joyous occasion, let us reaffirm our commitment to peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and dialogue. Let us reject all forms of bigotry, discrimination, and violence, and instead, embrace the principles of inclusivity, justice, and empathy. Together, let us build bridges of understanding and cooperation that transcend divisions and promote the common good.
“As we gather with family, friends, and loved ones to partake in festive meals and exchange heartfelt greetings, let us remember those who are less fortunate and extend a helping hand to those in need. Let us strive to create a more equitable and compassionate society where every individual can flourish and fulfill their potential.
“In conclusion, as we rejoice in the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr, may the blessings of peace, happiness, and prosperity be abundant in your lives. May this special day bring you closer to your loved ones and strengthen the bonds of affection and solidarity that unite us all.”
