Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has requested the establishment of a military operation base in the eastern part of the state.

This, according to the Governor will address the rising criminal activities in the area.

Abiodun made the appeal during a courtesy visit by the General Officer Commanding 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Farooq Mijinyawa, at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Wednesday.

He highlighted that the eastern part of Ogun State, which is experiencing significant commercial growth, including the presence of the state’s airport, has also seen an increase in criminal activities.

He argued that a military base in this region would help manage these issues more effectively.

“The level of commercial activities in the eastern part of the state is increasing, and this is accompanied by a rise in criminal activities,” said Abiodun. “We need a Forward Operation Base there to help us maintain peace and order.”
