Governor Rewards Three Civil Servants With SUVs After Secret Observation

Three outstanding Government House staff members, have been rewarded with brand new SUVs by the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, after secretly observing their work ethic.

Speaking via a post on , the Governor disclosed that he intentionally delayed his schedule to monitor whether any staff would leave early, noting that none did.

He stated that the award was a way to recognise discipline, commitment, and integrity among civil servants.

“Luck met preparation,” he wrote, adding that the test confirmed their consistent early arrivals and late departures without cutting corners.

“I rewarded three outstanding staff with brand new SUVs because hard work must be seen and appreciated,” Okpebholo stated.

“When you serve Edo State with discipline, commitment and integrity, someone is watching. Yes, even the Governor. This is my little way of saying thank you and encouraging everyone to keep giving their best. We are here to serve Edo people and excellence will always be rewarded,” he added.

Meanwhile, Okpebholo, has approved minor changes to his cabinet as part of efforts to strengthen governance, improve efficiency and enhance service delivery in the state.

The reshuffle, which affects three key positions in the state executive council, takes effect from January 30, 2026.

Announcing the development in a statement on Thursday, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, said the cabinet adjustments were aimed at repositioning the administration for better coordination and policy implementation.

According to the statement, Vincent Osas Uwadiae has been redeployed from the Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources to the Ministry of Lands and Housing, where he will now serve as Commissioner.
