In the vast garden of humanity, there are roses that bloom in the face of adversity, towering iroko trees that offer shade in times of distress, and burning lamps that illuminate the path for generations yet unborn.

Lateef Sofiyah
Today, with a heart steeped in pride and gratitude, I raise my voice not as a mere herald of words but as a witness to greatness, to extol a man whose footsteps echo with purpose — a benefactor of the Nigerian student community and a pillar of youthful transformation, now about to ascend to a revered chieftaincy stool in his homeland.
Honourable Akintonwa Segun ; an Indigene of ewekoro local government of Ogun State is a man of honour whose good deeds will always be noticed among Nigerian Youth and Various Communities in Ogun State.
They say, “A river that forgets its source will surely dry up.” It is with this consciousness that we, as the collective conscience of Nigerian students, honour a man who has never turned his back on his roots, nor forgotten the faces of those who look up to him. In seasons of scarcity, he has been the rain. In times of confusion, he has been the compass.
To the students and youths scattered across this federation, his name resounds like a victory drum — steady, reassuring, and ever present.
To some, he is a philanthropist; to others, a father. But to us, the students and youth of this great nation, he is a ladder — a man who bends so others may climb.
He has invested not just in buildings but in brains, not just in applause but in impact. From providing scholarship support, to sponsoring youth initiatives, from mentoring rising leaders to championing progressive causes, he has walked the long road with us. He is a testament to the saying, “He who plants trees knowing he may never sit under their shade is a true leader.”
Now, as fate prepares to crown him with a chieftaincy title — a deserved honour bestowed by his people — it is not only a recognition of his cultural value but a thunderous applause from history itself. For when the child washes his hands clean, he dines with elders; and when a man clothes the naked and feeds the hungry, the gods themselves anoint him.

This is no ordinary man. This is a man whose humility rivals the earth’s patience, whose wisdom flows like a spring unblocked, whose heart beats not just for today but for the future. “A goldfish has no hiding place,” and truly, his good works have found him out and brought him before kings.
On this note; we say without fear of contradiction: the community that honours such a man has done well. His chieftaincy title is not just a feather in his cap; it is a torch in his hand, and we are convinced that he will use it to light even more paths and lead with even greater clarity when given the opportunity.Let every youth take courage. Let every student take hope. For in this man, we see what is possible — that service is not folly, that generosity is not weakness, and that those who sow in sincerity shall reap in dignity.
Signed,
