The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State has inaugurated a 40-member campaign council to spearhead its electoral efforts across the 57 local council areas of the state.

According to a statement signed by Lagos APC spokesperson, Mogaji Oladejo on Wednesday, the campaign council is chaired by the immediate past APC State Chairman and a former Commissioner for Home Affairs, Babatunde Balogun, with Razak Ajala serving as secretary.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, held on Tuesday in Ikeja, the Lagos APC State Chairman, in an address to members of the newly formed council, urged them to immediately get to work.

He said, “The election is fast approaching. I urge you all to hit the ground running. Take the campaign to every nook and cranny of Lagos. Mobilise the electorate to vote massively for our party. We must showcase the various landmark achievements of our local governments to win the hearts of voters.”

The structure of the council reflects the party’s strategic approach to the grassroots elections, with the body split into six directorates headed by party chieftains, which include mobilisation, which is headed by Oyinlomo Danmole, finance, which is headed by Olufemi Daramola, security, which is headed by Dr. Razak Balogun, media and publicity, which is headed by Mogaji Oladejo, electoral, which is headed by Ademola Sadiq, and special duties, which is headed by Dr. Lateef Ibirogba

In addition, the APC appointed a former deputy governor of the state and current SSA to the President on SDGs, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, alongside the Lagos SSG, as Coordinators for Lagos West Senatorial District, Abimbola Saliu-Hundeyin.

For the Lagos Central Senatorial District, Abayomi Daramola and Chief Bolanle Olusanya will serve as co-coordinators, while Chief Sunday Aboyade and Fatai Ayoola were named deputy coordinators for Lagos West.

According to the statement, the membership of the council is deliberately diverse, drawing representation from various interest blocs within the party, including women groups, youth organisations, artisans, non-indigenes, state cabinet members, lawmakers, and members of the APC State Executive Committee.

In his response, Babatunde Balogun, who leads the council, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and assured the party faithful of the team’s readiness to deliver.

“We are fully aware of the enormity of the task before us. But we are equally confident in our collective strength and commitment. We will work with unity and dedication to not only secure victory in the upcoming council elections but also lay a solid foundation for our triumph in the 2027 national polls,” he said.

Oladejo said, “We’re not leaving anything to chance, Our strategy is people-driven. We will be telling real stories of what our councils have achieved and what more is to come.”

The July 12 council polls will be conducted by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission and are seen as a litmus test for political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
