Operatives of the Ebute Ero Police Division in Lagos State have arrested one Jackson Abraham, a male suspect, in possession of a stolen vehicle during a routine surveillance patrol.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ben Hundeyin, said the suspect was intercepted while driving a Mitsubishi Space vehicle, ash in colour, which was reported stolen from a parking area in Ogun State.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that Abraham took the vehicle without the owner’s consent, noting that both the suspect and the rightful owner reside at the same address.

Hundeyin stressed that the vehicle was recovered intact and taken to the police station, adding that the rightful owner, who had earlier reported the vehicle missing to the Ogun State Police Command, has been contacted and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.

He further stated that the suspect remains in custody as arrangements were being made to transfer him and the recovered vehicle to Ogun State, where the case was originally reported.

He also conveyed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh’s commitment to combating vehicle theft and enhancing public safety. According to him, the CP urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly, emphasising that community cooperation was crucial in the fight against crime.
