•Recognise Comrade Olushola Oladoja As Duly Elected President
We, the undersigned Zonal Secretaries of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), having carefully reviewed the disturbing public posturing of one Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah as the so-called “President of NANS”, wish to state emphatically and unequivocally that his claims are false, baseless, misleading, and outrightly rejected.
Comrade Atiku, a former student Unionist for over a decade, has neither the legal standing nor moral legitimacy to assume or parade himself in any official NANS capacity. *He did not contest* in the last democratic convention of our association, neither was his name listed among aspirants or participants.
The attempt to hijack the platform through sheer self-proclamation is nothing but a mockery of due process and an assault on the democratic values we hold sacred in NANS.
As Zonal Secretaries who represent the grassroots realities of Nigerian students across the six geopolitical zones, we find it deeply insulting that an individual who is *no longer a student*, and who has moved on to pursue personal political ambitions, would suddenly attempt to wear the cloak of student leadership uninvited and without mandate.
We view this charade as a reckless affront to the current legitimate leadership of NANS under *Comr. Olushola Oladoja (GCNS)*, whose election remains valid, credible, and respected by the Nigerian student community nationwide. The will of Nigerian students, as freely expressed through the ballot, must not be undermined by any form of impersonation or illegality.
We hereby:
1. Inform the general public that the said Atiku Abubakar Isah never participated in the Election we all witnessed on the 27th of February, 2025. Any attempt to distract the Leadership of NANS lead by Oladoja by an unscrupulous element parading himself as NANS president, should know that both mending and legal action are inevitable
2. Warn the general public, media houses, and relevant stakeholders to ignore and disregard any communication or claim issued by him in the name of NANS.
3. Reaffirm our commitment to upholding the Constitution of NANS, its organs, and all democratic structures.
4. Stand firmly behind the current national leadership of NANS, led by *Comr. Olushola Oladoja(GCNS)*, as the only elected President who went through the rigorous process of contesting and was constitutionally elected by the senators of NANS across the 36 States of Federation and Abuja, heavily witnessed by all the Nigerians students through their representatives from various zones.
This attempt by non-students to manipulate and destabilize NANS will be vigorously resisted. Our history as a movement has no room for such imposture, and we will ensure that the dignity and integrity is preserved at all costs.
NANS is for students, by students, and led by students. We reject in totality any self-imposed leadership that emerges from outside this reality.
We warn all the political parties to desist from interfering in NANS affairs.
NANS is an indivisible entity and will resist any external interference from anybody, group or political party, most especially those sponsoring the so called Abubakar Isah.
Finally; NANS is no longer a business as usual. The NANS of today is Students for the Students.
