AN OPEN LETTER
TO: Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), CON
Senator Representing Ogun West Senatorial District
FROM: Owolabi K. Oluwasegun Esq.,
Indigene of Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State,
Resident of Idimu, Alimosho Local Government, Lagos State.
DATE: December 2, 2025
SUBJECT: ACCOUNTABILITY, LEGISLATIVE LEGACY, AND THE JOSLTICE FOR OGUN STATE GOVERNORSHIP IN 2027
Sir,
I write to you today, not as a political opponent or a party loyalist, but as a concerned indigene of Ogun State, specifically from Ijebu-Igbo, who currently resides within the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos—a constituency you represented for over a decade. I assert my constitutional right to question any aspiring public office holder regarding their service history and their vision for my home state.
The Nigerian political landscape is too often characterized by grand pronouncements and massive campaign expenditures that rarely translate into sustainable development for the masses. Your journey, Hon. Senator, is remarkable: you spent two terms in the Lagos State House of Assembly, one term in the Federal House of Representatives, and two terms representing Lagos West in the Senate, culminating in a legislative career spanning two decades, before relocating to represent Ogun West in the Senate.
While we acknowledge your legislative contributions, such as your reported role in strengthening the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), which significantly boosted Lagos’s revenue profile, the question that burns in the minds of true Ogun State indigenes is this: What verifiable, structural, and sustainable legislative impact did you deliver to the people of Ogun State in the two decades preceding your 2023 electoral campaign?
Ogun State requires leadership defined not merely by empowerment handouts and political mobilization—often involving youth groups sometimes perceived as “hooligans” used for political ends—but by a foundational, institutional vision. We demand an account of your core legislative achievements across your five terms in Lagos and Abuja, not just in terms of bills sponsored, but in the actual, tangible improvement of human capital and infrastructure in Ogun State during that period.
You have now emerged as a leading aspirant for the Ogun State gubernatorial seat in 2027. Your history raises a critical query: How do you reconcile a 20-year legislative career largely dedicated to the advancement and fiscal strengthening of Lagos, with a sudden, passionate desire to lead Ogun State? We need to understand the substantive policy agenda that defines your suitability for the highest office in our state, beyond the well-publicized empowerment schemes and projects in the Ogun West Senatorial District since 2023.
We challenge you, Hon. Senator, to step forward and address the citizens of Ogun State directly. Tell us how your extensive experience will translate into a measurable economic blueprint that will restore our state’s dignity, provide meaningful employment, overhaul our educational sector, and ensure justice and equity across all senatorial districts.
We demand a detailed, public account: How have you prepared yourself, financially, politically, and morally, to be the governor that Ogun State truly deserves in 2027, and what differentiates your ambition from a mere political relocation and financial expedition?
The people of Ogun State await your comprehensive and honest response.
Yours in the pursuit of good governance,
Owolabi K. Oluwasegun Esq.
