…… Says Criminal & Urgent Cases To Be Heard During Court Recess
The High Court of Ogun State has announced its annual vacation for the year 2024, BEYOND AFRICA gathered.
The state Chief Judge Hon. Justice (Dr.) M. A. Dipeolu, in a notice issued said, the court will be on vacation from Monday, July 15, 2024, to Friday, August 23, 2024. The court will resume on Monday, August 26, 2024, while the Hon. Judges’ leave ends on Friday, September 6, 2024.
The notice, which was issued pursuant to Order 45 Rule 4 (d) and Rule 5 of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2014, also stated that the Legal Year Services (Christian and Muslim) for the 2024/2025 Legal Year will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024.
According to the Chief Judge, during the vacation period, criminal cases will be heard, and urgent civil motions will also be entertained but only with the leave of a Judge on the application of both parties to the suit or their counsel.
The notice was signed by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice (Dr.) M. A. Dipeolu, FICMC, FHNR, and dated May 28, 2024. It was also circulated to all Magistrates, Judicial Research Officers, and Sectional Heads (High/Magistrates’ Courts) by the Chief Registrar, Mr. A. J. Ojikutu.
The annual vacation is a routine exercise aimed at allowing judges and other judicial staff to take a break from their hectic schedules and also to enable the court to carry out necessary maintenance and upgrades to its facilities.
