Ogun Community Appeals To Gov Abiodun To Expedite Action On Eleweran-OGTV Road

Residents of Osioyemi Community in Abeokuta, Ogun State have appeal to Governor Dapo Abiodun to expedite action on the construction of Eleweran road down to Ogun State Television (OGTV).

According to the residents, motorists and other road users are facing difficulties on daily basis while plying the road.

BEYOND AFRICA gathered that Osioyemi comprises of 36 communities with over 100 communities using the road.

The medium learnt that the state government has approved the construction of the road but the contractor has not yet mobilise to the site.

Speaking with BEYOND AFRICA on the economic importance of the road and challenges facing residents of the area on Monday, the Landlord Association Chairman of Osioyemi, Com. Alameen Akinsola said the construction of the road will improve the economy of the state considering its location.

Akinsola noted that, the road if done will be an alternative root for people coming from Ibadan to link OGTV down to Iyana Mortuary.

He said: “The communities plying that roads are more than 100 communities. The road if done will be an alternative root and will serve as a bypass for those coming from Ibadan, FUNAAB axis to link OGTV down to Iyana Mortuary.

“The road is the only most viable road in Odeda Local government now considering it’s economic benefits to the people. All the 36 communities under Osioyemi has had a meeting to seek the urgent intervention of our dear Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

“Our people are facing degrees of challenges on daily basis due to the poor condition of road. We heard the governor has approved the construction of the road but we are still waiting for the contractor to mobilise to site. We plead with the state government to attend to the road as soon as possible.

“The road when constructed will reduce gridlock at Obantoko and and the road will be decongested. It links Obafemi Owode local government and odeda local government”.
