Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has announced a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abiola Makinde, as the Director General of his campaign council ahead of the November 16 governorship election.

Makinde is a member of the All Progressives Congress and a federal lawmaker representing the Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency of the state.

Aiyedatiwa, who swore in the DG and other members of the council at a stakeholders meeting held at the International Culture and Event Centre in Akure on Thursday, called for unity and renewed commitment from members of the APC ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The governor emphasised that the party’s strength lies in collective efforts and urged members to intensify grassroots mobilization.

He said, “The party’s strength lies in collective efforts and urged members to intensify grassroots mobilization.”

“This is the third stakeholders’ meeting, and it’s clear that we’ve upheld our promise of inclusivity as a party and as a government.”

He charged members of the council to show commitment and work harder towards ensuring that the party wins the forthcoming governorship poll, stressing that the election victory would require the collective strength of every party member.

“We cannot afford to be complacent; this is the time to redouble our efforts and ensure we deliver victory for the party,” Governor Aiyedatiwa said.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Makinde assured the gathering that he is fully committed to delivering victory for the APC in the election.

Makinde stated, “I promise that Ondo State will remain in the hands of APC. I am pledging to lead a successful campaign that would consolidate the party’s hold on the state.”

Earlier in his welcome address, the state APC Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, reminded party members that the APC remains one big family despite differing opinions. He urged members to prioritize the party’s success above personal interests.

“Ondo is a progressive state, and we will continue to be progressive as long as we stand united,” Adetimehin said.
