The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has refuted the claim of bribe taking by its officers in a bid to sabotage the efforts of the agency in the fight against drug abuse in the country.
In a statement by the Osun NDLEA Public Relations Officer, Charles Odigie, the Commander of the agency in the state, Lawal Adetula CN noted that the agency has zero tolerance for corruption while highlighting the presence of “Monitoring team” responsible for curbing corruption within the agency.
He stated this during an interview with newsmen in his office on Friday.
The Commander while speaking highlighted the agency’s roles in demand reduction and supply reduction, emphasizing the importance of creating awareness and sensitizing the public, especially the youth.
He also discussed the WADA initiative, launched by the Chairman of the agency, aimed at educating the public about the dangers of drug abuse.
Also, Adetula praised the State government’s initiative to create I-WADA, a program designed to curb the drug menace. He also acknowledged the crucial role of the mass media in raising awareness and supporting the agency’s efforts.
He expressed confidence that the combined efforts of the agency, state government and the mass media would ultimately curb the drug menace in the society.
