The Osun State Caretaker Committee of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has issued a stern warning to Mr. Ajala Adetunji, who has recently released a statement falsely claiming to be the chairman of the council in the state.
The committee, led by Comrade Abdulmajeed Oyeniyi, has called on security operatives to ensure Mr. Adetunji’s immediate arrest and detention to prevent further confusion and potential unrest.
In a statement signed and released by the Caretaker Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adebisi Emmanuel, the committee emphasized that it is the only recognized leadership body of the NYCN by both the national headquarters and the Osun State Ministry of Youth Affairs.
The statement reiterated that any attempts to undermine the committee’s authority or misrepresent its activities will not be tolerated.
The Caretaker Committee highlighted that several meetings have been held in preparation for the upcoming state congress. These meetings are part of the committee’s mandate to conduct a free, fair, and credible congress that will serve the best interests of the youth in Osun State.
The chairman, Comrade Abdulmajeed Oyeniyi, stressed that individuals interested in any positions within the NYCN should participate in the legitimate electoral process rather than creating unnecessary confusion and misleading the public.
Furthermore, the committee urged security operatives in the state to act swiftly and bring Mr. Ajala Adetunji to justice. The committee expressed concern that his actions could lead to significant unrest if not addressed promptly. Ensuring the impersonator is held accountable is crucial to maintaining peace and stability within the NYCN and the broader community.
The statement also called on all members of the NYCN, heads of Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYO), and the local government caretaker committee members to remain steadfast in their commitment to youth development. The Caretaker Committee assured them that their dedication to this cause is recognized and appreciated and that the committee will continue to work towards creating opportunities for the youth in Osun State.
The Caretaker Committee concluded by reaffirming its commitment to transparency, integrity, and accountability in all its activities. It urged all stakeholders to support its efforts to build a more robust and unified youth council that can effectively address the needs and aspirations of young people in the state.
