The Osun East Senatorial District African Democratic Congress (ADC) aspirant, Hon. Babatunde Loye, has stated that the Federal High Court judgement deregistering the ADC is a sign that the party will win the upcoming elections.

Loye said this on Tuesday while reacting to the judgement delivered by Justice Peter Lifu in a suit filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators.

According to the ADC Senatorial candidate, the party will be on ballot in upcoming elections while urging members to remain calm and law abiding.

He said: “I don’t think the judgement is real. If you start from INEC, INEC had already done with all documentations from the parties. They have done their checks before they would allow the candidates to actually make some payments to the party.

“Therefore, if they have some problems with any particular party, they would have deregistered the party. But INEC did not say anything till date and court is now making a judgment that they should deregistered some parties at this time. That is not real, it’s never done. All the parties that were deregistered in the past, they did that before the parties went ahead with primaries.

“This is something that can never happen in Nigeria and if this happens, it means there’s nothing called democracy in the country and it will affect a lot of things. It will distrupt the election. People will go on the street and it will cause chaos in the country.

“Definitely it would affect the August 15 Osun governorship election. I don’t think there will be something like election in Osun State because of Accord Party, ADC and some other parties were deregistered. That means we have only one party system in the country and that’s not possible.

“That means we will only have one party to contest. They should just announce APC as winner which is not possible. It’s not something we should even worry ourselves with because there would be election in Osun and ADC, Accord and other political parties will participate.

“I will urge my people to be calm and remain law abiding. We should wait until this is upturned and I believe it’s going to.be anytime soon. We should just continue our campaigns and other activities we are doing. And I can tell you this is a sign we are going to win. When things are like this, it means some people are scared.”
