Just In: Four Killed, Several Injured In Ogun Fresh Cult Clashes

No fewer than four persons have been killed while several sustained gunshot injuries in various cult clashes in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

According to findings by BEYOND AFRICA, the victims were killed at different locations in Abeokuta, the state capital, at the weekend when members of rival cult groups engaged one another.

The medium also learnt that another cult clash involving Aye and Eiye groups occurred at DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic in Itori area of the state.

The clash according to reports occurred during the school’s matriculation ceremony. There was a shootout between Aye and Eiye cult groups, resulting in the shooting of an Eiye number 2 man known as FM, also called Warlord.

He was shot in the eye, and taken to the hospital for treatment but passed away the next day.

It is reported that this was the first cult clash in the area in a long time. Following this incident, another Eiye member named Itunu was eliminated in the Agbara area last week Friday.

Also, on Sunday, a member of Aye named Basket was eliminated in Oke-Bode, Sapon, while another Aye member named Senior escaped with injuries during the attack.

Meanwhile, in another incident, the Ogun State Police Command said it arrested one suspected member of the Eiye confraternity in the Itori area of Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state on Friday.

According to Odutola, the suspect was arrested following reports that there were sounds of gunshots within the vicinity of the state-owned D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic.

The police, upon receiving the report, mobilized its officers to the scene of the shooting where the suspect was apprehended.

Odutola identified the suspect as one Oluwafemi Johnson, who claimed to be a resident of Badagry in Lagos State.

She said, “The Divisional Police Officer in Ewekoro received information via phone call that individuals believed to be cultists were firing gunshots within D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori. Upon receiving this tip-off, the DPO led the police patrol team to the location.

“One suspect, identified as Oluwafemi Johnson from Badagry, Lagos State, was arrested while hiding in a bush near Afowowa across from the polytechnic.”

She added that the suspect confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity during interrogation while adding that a discreet investigation had commenced into the matter.
