The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has denied setting up a parallel presidential campaign committee in the state, insisting that Governor Ademola Adeleke remains the coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The party said the committee recently constituted under its governorship candidate in the last election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, was exclusively responsible for coordinating campaigns for APC candidates contesting national and state legislative seats.
The clarification followed reports on social media suggesting that the Osun APC had established a separate presidential campaign structure, raising questions about the party’s commitment to the presidential campaign arrangement involving Adeleke.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, said there was no reason for the party to establish a parallel presidential campaign committee when Tinubu had already appointed Adeleke as the state coordinator of his campaign.
Olabisi said the governor had demonstrated his willingness to work with other political parties in the state to mobilise more than 1.5 million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He added that the APC remained committed to working with Adeleke to achieve the President’s electoral victory, noting that the party had repeatedly expressed appreciation for the governor’s willingness to lead the campaign.
The party also cited the rally held last Saturday at Nelson Mandela Park, Osogbo, as evidence of its commitment to the proposed political collaboration.
It urged individuals allegedly working to undermine the arrangement to desist from actions capable of creating division and disunity within the emerging political coalition.
Olabisi further clarified that Oyebamiji remained the Director-General of the APC’s parliamentary campaign organisation and was also supporting efforts to secure over 1.5 million votes for Tinubu.
The party, however, acknowledged the complaints of some members of its state executive committee over their exclusion from the campaign list circulated on social media.
It said only four out of the 35 state executive committee members were reportedly omitted from the list, adding that the affected members had drawn the party’s attention to the development.
According to the statement, the displeasure expressed by the affected officials showed their willingness to participate actively in the Oyebamiji-led parliamentary campaign organisation.
The APC maintained that the parliamentary campaign structure should not be misconstrued as a rival to the presidential campaign committee coordinated by Adeleke.
