A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Segun Sowunmi has declared his willingness to work with President Bola Tinubu, stating clearly that he would resign from the opposition party should the opportunity arise.

Sowunmi stated this on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, following a recent meeting with the president.

The PDP chieftain said he has no problem working with President Tinubu, despite his previous criticisms of the APC-led administration.

“There has never been a doubt that I can work with him. There’s never been a doubt,” he said.

When pressed further on whether he would accept an appointment from the president, the PDP stalwart said,
“I don’t do that type of nonsense. If I am going to work with the president, I’m going to leave the PDP, because I’m wondering completely. I have worked with the president.”

During the same interview, he admitted to previously calling the current government “rudderless” and accused it of “ethnic concentration and lopsidedness.”

“You think that this government is rudderless. You held that view. You also said that there’s been a lot of ethnic concentration, lopsidedness?” the interviewer asked.

“Yes, at a point,” he responded indicating that he held such views of towards the president at a point in time.

Despite his strong remarks, he spoke admiringly of President Tinubu’s mental capacity and decisiveness, describing him as alert and intellectually grounded.

“So the president was mentally and psychologically alert. I’ve known him for a while and I know how he thinks,” he said.

He narrated a previous encounter with Tinubu where the president appeared open-minded and direct.

“He opened up by saying whether I wanted to be on an appointment. The only time I was ever on an appointment in government was the government of Otunba Gbenga Daniel when he was in government. . Credit to him. He knew I was like a pain. You know why? I can’t stand when people get on one after the other in meetings just to do psychophancy instead of cutting to the chase. I used to do that a lot,” he said.
