The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he is closely monitoring developments within the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that his concern stems from a commitment to the survival and strength of the party.

Wike made the remarks on Monday while speaking at the 105th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the PDP held in Abuja.

“Let me declare my interest clearly: I am interested in the survival and success of this party. I am also interested in all the happenings in Oyo State PDP. That is all I am interested in,” he stated.

Wike also dismissed claims that PDP members were being intimidated, particularly in light of recent judicial victories for his faction of the party.

He said, “Who will intimidate us to the end? Some of us, by the grace of God, do not see what anyone can threaten us with. The legal battle has collapsed. They have no option but to recognise the Caretaker Committee.”

His comments appear to reference the power tussle in Oyo PDP, following the annulment of a parallel national convention conducted in November 2025 by a faction loyal to Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.

The Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, had earlier nullified the convention organised by the Makinde-Bala group, siding with the faction that established a Caretaker Committee for the state.
