Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has alleged that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
Fayose made the claim in a social media post, stating that he had received reliable information suggesting that the Oyo State Government may soon initiate actions that could lead to the monarch’s removal.
According to him, the alleged move is expected to begin with the issuance of a government query against the Olubadan, reportedly over his absence at the recent coronation of some High Chiefs in Ibadanland, alongside other unspecified allegations.
“I heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja,” Fayose stated.
He further hinted that political observers would be closely watching developments in the state, adding a remark in Yoruba that suggested skepticism over the alleged move.
The claim has since generated reactions across political and traditional circles, given the importance of the Olubadan stool and its influence within Ibadanland and beyond.
As of the time of this report, the Oyo State Government has not issued any official response to the allegation, while the palace of the Olubadan has also remained silent.
Observers note that any issue involving the traditional institution in Ibadan is highly sensitive and could have far-reaching implications for peace and political dynamics in Oyo State.
