A security breach at Ayotoz Hotel in Ibadan turned a post-wedding stay into a scene of national controversy this February.

The incident began around 6:20 a.m. when a member of the cleaning staff used a master key to enter a room presumed to be vacant. Upon opening the door, the staff member reportedly raised an alarm, drawing a crowd of guests into the hallway.

The room’s occupants, identified as Aliu Sule and Deji Akinremi, were caught off guard by the intrusion.

In the ensuing confusion, Sule reportedly jumped through a window and fled the scene. Akinremi was less fortunate, he was apprehended by an agitated crowd and eventually handed over to the authorities.

The incident quickly went viral, sparking heated debates online and within the local community.

Reports indicate that the situation escalated further when property linked to the fleeing Sule was allegedly targeted by vigilantes.

The event has ignited significant concern regarding hotel privacy protocols and the volatile nature of mob justice in Nigeria.

As at the time of this report, local authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the legal status of the occupants or the specific nature of the scandal.
