JUSTICE FOR ABDULLATEEF OLAMILEKAN (LEKZY): AN ATTACK ON A PROMISING YOUTH AND STUDENT LEADER IS AN ATTACK ON OUR COLLECTIVE FUTURE

The leadership of the New Nigeria Mandate (NNM), Osun State Chapter, received with deep shock, sorrow, and outrage the tragic killing of Comr. Abdullateef Olamilekan (popularly known as LEKZY), a proactive member of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and a respected leader within the student community.

His untimely death is not only a painful loss to his immediate family and friends but also to the Nigerian student movement, where he distinguished himself through active participation, leadership, and commitment to the welfare and advancement of students. His passing has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill and has further heightened concerns over the growing wave of political violence in Osun State.

We unequivocally condemn this heinous and senseless act. No political disagreement, ambition, or interest can justify the unlawful taking of a human life. Every Nigerian, irrespective of political affiliation or social status, has an inalienable right to life, and those who violate that right must face the full weight of the law.

We therefore call on the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, and all relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough, impartial, and expedited investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing of Comr. Abdullateef Olamilekan (LEKZY). We demand the immediate identification, arrest, and prosecution of every individual directly or indirectly connected to this heinous crime. Justice must not be delayed, denied, or compromised.

We equally call on the Osun State Government to ensure that this case is treated with the seriousness it deserves. The people of Osun State deserve to know that no one is above the law and that every effort is being made to restore public confidence in the state’s security architecture.

To political actors and their supporters, we urge restraint. Elections are contests of ideas and policies not battles to be fought with bloodshed. Violence has never strengthened democracy; it only weakens our institutions and leaves families to mourn.

To students and youths across Osun State, we encourage you to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and peaceful. Participate in the democratic process responsibly, but never allow yourselves to become instruments of violence or political manipulation. No political ambition is worth the loss of your life or the destruction of your future.

The death of Comr. Abdullateef Olamilekan (LEKZY) must not become another unresolved case. His family deserves justice. The student community deserves justice. Osun State deserves justice.

The New Nigeria Mandate (NNM), Osun State Chapter, therefore joins all well-meaning Nigerians in demanding:
– Immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
– A transparent and impartial investigation.
– Speedy prosecution of all those responsible.
– An end to political killings and violence in Osun State.

Justice for LEKZY!
Justice for every victim of political violence!
Let peace prevail in Osun State.
