● Nullifies Earlier Statements By His Executives
The Coordinator of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) South West Zone D, Comrade Josiah Adeyemo, has warned his executives over to desist from issuing appointments without his authorization.
Adeyemo in a press release on Wednesday, warned against any act capable of plunging the zone into disarray if continued unchecked.
According to him, the constitution of the association provides for a clear hierarchy, as well as defined separations and limitations of powers, all of which must be respected to safeguard the unity and stability of the zone.
“As the presiding officer of NANS Southwest (Zone D), it remains the constitutional responsibility of my office to ensure strict adherence to the provisions of the NANS Constitution and the established modus operandi guiding the association. By virtue of this mandate, the Office of the Coordinator retains supervisory authority over all structures and activities within the six states that make up the zone consisting of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo States, and therefore reserves the final administrative authority on matters affecting governance, publications, and appointments within the zone.
“Consequently, no executive, outside the Office of the Coordinator and the Office of the General Secretariat, respectively, shall possess the authority to make appointments, issue statements, or release publications on behalf of NANS Southwest (Zone D).
“In situations deemed unavoidable or necessary, any executive intending to issue a statement or communication must first consult the Coordinator or the General Secretary and obtain prior approval before such publication is released to the public.
“Furthermore, from this moment onward, all established guidelines governing the issuance of appointments shall be strictly enforced. No executive shall issue appointments independently from his or her office. All appointments within the zone must be duly processed and released exclusively on the official letterhead of the Office of the Coordinator or that of the General Secretariat. Any appointment issued on the letterhead of any other executive shall be considered null and void, and the public is hereby cautioned to disregard such publications in their entirety,” the statement read partly.
“Accordingly, all earlier statements issued by any Zonal Executive on matters relating to NANS JCC Lagos State and Ogun State should be disregarded by the public, Nigerian students, and all relevant stakeholders. The Joint Campus Councils within Lagos and Ogun States are hereby advised to await the official position of the Zonal leadership, which shall be communicated through the appropriate constitutional channels at the appropriate time.
“This directive is issued in the interest of restoring discipline, preserving institutional order, and reinforcing the supremacy of constitutional authority within NANS Southwest (Zone D).
Thank you for your attention to this matter,” the statement concluded.
