The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ibarapa East Local Government Area has intensified efforts to boost civic participation ahead of future elections by mobilizing eligible residents for the ongoing voter registration exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The mobilization exercise culminated on Tuesday at the INEC office in Eruwa, where a large number of community members, party supporters, and newly eligible voters turned out to complete their registration process.

Speaking with journalists during the exercise, a chieftain of the NDC in Ibarapa East, Hon. Opeolu Ojelere, popularly known as ‘Working,’ described voter registration as a critical step toward strengthening democratic participation and ensuring effective representation.

He noted that possessing a valid voter card remains essential for citizens who desire good governance and sustainable development within their communities.

“Our goal is to ensure that no eligible voter in Ibarapa East is disenfranchised. The power to demand accountability, quality leadership and meaningful development begins with participation in the electoral process. This exercise is about empowering the people and strengthening democracy at the grassroots,” Ojelere said.

The exercise witnessed a peaceful and orderly turnout, with party volunteers assisting prospective registrants through preliminary procedures before they were attended to by INEC officials.

Residents who participated in the exercise commended the sensitization campaign and logistical support provided by the party leadership, describing the initiative as timely and beneficial, particularly for first-time voters.

The NDC leadership also reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining awareness campaigns across the various wards in Ibarapa East to ensure that more eligible residents participate in the registration exercise before the INEC deadline.
