Embattled party figure, Abayomi Hunye has formally joined the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Governorship ticket.
Hunye’s interest is against the backdrop of the consensus endorsement of Senator Olamilekan Adeola (populary known as Yayi) to fly by the Party’s flag in the 2027 gubernatorial elections.
Hunye, who was recently removed from his position as Managing Director of the Ogun State Waste Management Agency (Ogwama) reportedly obtained the APC nomination forms valued at ₦50 Million on Tuesday in Abuja.
The state government has cited serious allegations, including extortion, misappropriation of public funds, abuse of office, and high-handed conduct, as reasons for his dismissal, describing the action as necessary to preserve accountability and public trust.
In the same vein, Senator Adeola also contained the forms at the Party Secretariat on Tuesday through his Chief of Staff, Chief Kayode Odunaro.
According to reports circulating on X, the forms were purchased by unnamed supporters, suggesting a coordinated effort to reposition Hunye politically.
His entry into the race comes as a surprise to many Observers, particularly given that he had not publicly indicated any Intention to contest for Office following his Dismissal.
Reports indicate that Hunye secured the Forms through a Ppoxy, further fueling speculation about the srategy behind his sudden political Move.
While some Party members view his move as a legitimate democratic exercise, others warn that the lingering allegations surrounding his tenure at OGWAMA may present reputational challenges and affect his chances within the APC primary process.
