Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has announced his support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign after parting ways with the APC ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Omisore made the announcement in a statement shared on his official social media platform, declaring that his political structure across the State had resolved to align with the incumbent governor.Politics
According to him, the decision followed internal consultations and was taken in what he described as the broader interest of the state and its people.
“It is official. The political structure of Senator Iyiola Omisore across Osun State has resolved to stand firmly with Governor Ademola Adeleke for his re-election,” the statement read.
He added that the move was driven by a commitment to sustaining unity, progress and good governance across the state.
“This decision is in the interest of Osun State, its people and the continued pursuit of unity, progress and good governance,” Omisore stated.
The former APC chieftain further declared that his political base had reached a common position ahead of the governorship election.Politics
“As we move toward the August 15 gubernatorial election in Osun, our position is clear, our structure is united, and our support is total,” he added.
Omisore’s endorsement is expected to reshape political calculations as parties intensify campaigns ahead of the poll.
The development comes amid growing realignments and heightened political activity across the state, with major stakeholders positioning ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested election.
In the last two weeks, allies of Omisore have been dumping the APC and moving to the Accord.
Some of the allies who have left the APC include Folorunsho Bamisayemi, Taiwo Akeju, Jamiu Olawumi, Yemi Lawal, among others.
