The leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Osun State Chapter, under the leadership of Comrade Kazeem Oyewale (Asiri Eniba), has officially endorsed Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) as its preferred candidate for the forthcoming Osun State Governorship Election.
The endorsement was made yesterday following engagements with the union leadership, where Comrade Kazeem Oyewale urged members of the union across the 30 Local Government Areas of the state to support AMBO, describing the candidate as a choice capable of advancing the development of Osun State while promoting the growth, welfare, peace, and stability of the transport union. He further encouraged members to participate actively and responsibly in the electoral process.
The NURTW Osun State Chapter further stated that its decision to endorse and support Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) is largely informed by his consistent respect for the operations and legitimate interests of the union. AMBO has consistently carried NURTW members along during his political engagements, rallies, and campaigns, while also contributing to a positive change in the public perception of the union by demonstrating that NURTW is not synonymous with thuggery or hooliganism. The union considers this approach a strong indication that, if elected Governor, AMBO will prioritize the welfare, dignity, and legitimate interests of NURTW members across Osun State.
The leadership therefore calls on all NURTW members across the state to come out massively on Saturday, 15th August 2026, with their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and exercise their constitutional right to vote for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO). The union urges its members to remain peaceful, orderly, and law-abiding throughout the electoral process while demonstrating their support through their votes.
The NURTW leadership also appealed to all residents of Osun State to maintain peace throughout the electioneering period, urging political parties, candidates, supporters, and other stakeholders to reject violence, intimidation, and acts capable of disrupting the peace of the state.
“No political ambition is worth the blood or life of any Nigerian. We must disagree politically without becoming enemies. The future of Osun belongs to all of us, and whatever our political differences may be, peace must remain our collective priority.”
The union therefore called on its members and the people of Osun State to conduct themselves peacefully before, during, and after the election, while encouraging all stakeholders to embrace issue-based campaigns and allow the people to freely exercise their democratic rights.
