Adeoye Stephen Olasunkanmi has declared his intention to contest the Ibarapa East State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olasunkanmi made his intention known in a statement made available to the public, where he described his aspiration as a commitment to service, responsible leadership, and the advancement of the constituency.

According to him, the decision to seek elective office was borne out of the need to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ibarapa East and to provide representation that reflects the aspirations of the people.

“History does not merely remember those who seek power, it honours those who seek purpose beyond themselves,” he said.

“With deep reflection, unwavering conviction, and a sincere commitment to the progress of our people, I hereby signal my intention to answer the call of service.”

The aspirant, however, did not disclose the political party under which he intends to contest, stating that consultations were still ongoing and that an official announcement regarding his political platform would be made in due course.

He stressed the need for visionary leadership, accountability, and collective participation in governance, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved through unity of purpose and people-oriented representation.

Olasunkanmi also appealed to residents and stakeholders within the constituency to support what he described as a shared vision for growth and prosperity in Ibarapa East.

“I invite you to join me in this pursuit of a shared and prosperous future for our constituency,” he stated.

“I shall remain steadfast in providing leadership that is accountable, impactful, and reflective of our collective aspirations.”

Political observers say the declaration has added a new dimension to the emerging political conversations ahead of the 2027 elections in the constituency, as political activities gradually begin to gather momentum across Oyo State.
