The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Osun State Command, on Wednesday decorated 84 newly promoted officers, comprising 61 senior officers and 23 junior officers.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Esther Fadare, the colourful ceremony was attended by the families and friends of the promoted officers, as well as representatives of sister security agencies.

Among the dignitaries present were the Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), DCC B.M. Adeloye; the Osun State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Cmdr. Omoyele; and the Divisional Police Officer of Obokun Division, CSP Abdulrasak.

Addressing the officers, the Osun State Commander of the NDLEA, Commander Olayinka Joe-Fadile, congratulated the newly promoted personnel and reminded them that higher ranks come with greater responsibilities.

He urged the officers to remain disciplined and uphold the agency’s core values of Integrity, Professionalism, Accountability and Commitment (IPAC), stressing that ethical conduct and dedication are essential in the fight against illicit drugs.

Joe-Fadile noted that discipline is first reflected in an officer’s appearance, particularly through the proper wearing of the prescribed uniform, adding that a professional appearance shapes public perception and strengthens community trust.

He further emphasised that the war against drug trafficking requires officers who are not only promoted in rank but are also distinguished by exemplary character and professionalism.

The commander warned that the command would not tolerate any act capable of bringing the agency into disrepute through unethical or unprofessional conduct, urging the officers to maintain the highest standards of integrity in the discharge of their duties.

Describing the new ranks as symbols of hard work, discipline, dedication and sacrifice, Joe-Fadile cautioned the officers against complacency.

He reminded them that drug cartels are not intimidated by new ranks but by renewed determination, professionalism and unwavering resolve.

The NDLEA commander charged the officers to carry the spirit of their promotion into every part of Osun State, making integrity their strongest weapon and courage their shield.

He also urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer and the management of the NDLEA by delivering outstanding results that would continue to uphold the reputation of the Osun State Command.
