A leading aspirant of the All Progressives Congress for the Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency, Engr. (Dr.) David Olusegun Okanlawon, has unveiled a comprehensive policy framework aimed at driving long-term development across the region.
The document, titled “Our Promise, Real Impact,” outlines a structured roadmap focused on economic growth, social welfare, and transparent governance. It presents a technical approach to addressing persistent infrastructural deficits and repositioning the constituency for sustainable progress.
At the core of the plan is an agribusiness-driven economic strategy designed to modernize the agricultural value chain. The proposal prioritizes the processing and distribution of key commodities such as cassava, maize, and poultry, with projections indicating the creation of about 1,000 direct jobs. The initiative is intended to shift local farming practices from subsistence to commercial-scale production, while strengthening food security and stimulating the local economy.
In the area of infrastructure and public health, the campaign sets a clear target of providing functional potable water to at least 50 percent of underserved communities within three years. The approach combines direct borehole installations with partnerships involving relevant agencies to accelerate delivery.
The healthcare component goes beyond basic facility upgrades. It includes plans to recruit and train specialized medical personnel, equip local health centres with modern diagnostic and surgical tools, and establish a coordinated emergency response system supported by an upgraded ambulance network to improve response times during critical situations.
Addressing youth development and the demands of a changing global economy, the framework emphasizes digital literacy and vocational training. It proposes the integration of ICT education and sports development to equip young people with competitive, market-relevant skills. The manifesto also identifies tourism and education as strategic sectors capable of attracting external investment into the constituency.
On governance, the plan introduces an accountability model anchored on transparency and citizen participation. Dr. Okanlawon has pledged to hold quarterly town hall meetings to enable constituents to monitor project execution and scrutinize public spending.
Security is addressed through the “Safer Communities” initiative, which seeks to strengthen collaboration between local security outfits and formal state and federal structures. The strategy also promotes community-based intelligence gathering and the establishment of partnerships aimed at attracting international development support and private sector investment.
The policy document frames the campaign as a results-oriented intervention rather than a conventional political promise, with a focus on measurable outcomes. It concludes with a call for collective action among stakeholders to reposition Ibarapa Central and North toward a more stable and economically viable future.
