The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), South West Zone D has explained the excruciating effects of the current epileptics power supply on students across campuses in region while making urgent appeal to the federal government to address the issue.

Coordinator, Comrade Josiah Adeyemo made appeal during a peaceful protest in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Wednesday.
According to Adeyemo, the power failure is posing a great danger to academic activities across campuses.
He stressed that the power shortage has brought about series of reports, aggrevations within the students communities.
He said: “We are on the street of Osogbo today to register our agitation and displeasure on the current electricity crisis that has rampage our nation. It has not only rampage our nation indirectly, but has affected our academic activities in our campuses and our society.
“That’s why we are here to let the whole world and Nigerian students know that we are agitating for their interests.
In as much that we appreciate the government for what they have been doing to ensure stability in the country, we must not forget the true essence of stability.
“Where peace can truly thrive is where society can truly enjoy the basic amenities that should be rendered by the government and electricity is one of those basic amenities that we can not for once sideline.
“The constant failure of electricity which in recent time has significantly dropped has brought about series of reports, aggrevations within our campuses and schools as students communities and even our society as a whole and we must let the government know that while we appreciate what they have been doing, this is a priority for them.
“They have even given us their words that they are already working on it. I am very sure President Bola Tinubu made a release recently concerning a committee they set up to look into the issue and last two years, they passed the electricity bill into law where the states have been given the mandate to generate their electricity on their own.
“While this has been established, they have not been implemented and we must let them know that the whole world is watching for them to take the right step and ensure we enjoy constant electricity.
“This is just a preamble. We are doing this to let our students community know that we are hearing them and serving their interests.
“But let be known that if we don’t hear any response or proper engagement from appropriate quarters concerning this power issue, then we will be forced to make another mass protest to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State.”
