A socio-political group, the Omoluabi Movement, has launched an extensive mobilisation campaign in support of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, aligning its activities with broader national political objectives.
The movement reaffirmed its commitment to backing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the senatorial ambition of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Adeola, alongside other APC candidates contesting National and State Assembly seats.
In a statement released to journalists on Wednesday in Abeokuta by the State Director of Media and Publicity, Oluseun Joshua, the group disclosed that it had intensified grassroots engagement across Ogun State to consolidate support for the ruling party at both state and national levels.
Signed by the Convener, Armstrong ‘Tope’ Akintunde, the statement noted that the mobilisation drive aims to deepen political participation and expand outreach among members, now exceeding 30,000 across the state’s three senatorial districts.
The movement has commenced statewide activities with the deployment of 27 newly unveiled buses to enhance coordination, visibility, and community-level engagement. “We began our mobilisation exercise across Ogun State a few days ago, deploying 27 buses to various communities. The effort is focused on galvanising grassroots support for President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state and beyond,” Akintunde said.
Clarifying organisational identity, Akintunde stressed that the Omoluabi Movement is not affiliated with any group linked to former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, dismissing speculations of external political influence. “‘Omoluabi’ is a shared Yoruba value, not the property of any political figure. Our mission is clearly defined around mobilising support for APC candidates in Ogun State, with a long-term vision for expansion,” he added.
He further explained that the buses are part of a strategic plan to strengthen grassroots structures, improve organisational efficiency, and sustain consistent engagement with voters. “Our vision is to entrench a political culture rooted in the Omoluabi ethos—integrity, accountability, service, and respect for democratic values,” Akintunde noted.
The movement said its name reflects a guiding philosophy centred on responsibility, ethical leadership, and progressive governance, inspired by remarks from the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, during the official unveiling and royal blessing of the buses.
Key objectives of the Omoluabi Movement include building strong grassroots networks to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid, Governor Abiodun’s move to the Senate, and Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition, while promoting participatory democracy and sustained community engagement.
The group emphasised its commitment to bridging the gap between leadership and citizens through political education, civic responsibility, and inclusive development initiatives aligned with the aspirations of Ogun State residents and the broader APC national agenda.
