Leaders and elders of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have rejected the outcome of the recent ward and local government congresses conducted across the state.

The party leaders alleged widespread irregularities, imposition of party executives, and violations of established guidelines.

The position of the aggrieved leaders was made known during a press conference in Ilorin on Tuesday, where Dele Abiodun, a former chairman of Ekiti Local Government, spoke on behalf of the elders.

This came as the state APC chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, dismissed the claims, insisting that due process was followed in the conduct of the congresses.

The development comes against the backdrop of a recent viral video showing some party members staging a protest at the residence of the state chairman chanting “Olè” (thief).

Addressing journalists, Abiodun said, “Although the APC ward and local government congresses held on 11th and 12th February 2026 have come and gone, the ripple effects have yet to subside.

“Across the length and breadth of Ekiti Local Government Area, people have been crying foul over the way and manner the congresses were conducted,” he added.
