A non-governmental organization, Tracka has raised concern over lack of a proper Primary HealthCare Centre in Apakila town, Odeda, Ogun State.
According to Tracka in a notice to Governor Dapo Abiodun, said thousands of residents of the community are facing difficulty in accessing medical care as they travel long distances often at great cost and risk.
“Dear Gov @DapoAbiodunCON,
In Apakila and 25 surrounding Communities in Odeda LGA, Ogun State, access to basic healthcare is still a fairytale for residents.
“9 years ago, a small building was constructed within Akpakila’s primary school, intended to serve as a PHC for all surrounding communities.
“However, this facility was never commissioned nor equipped to deliver healthcare services. Instead, what was meant to be a lifeline for the community has since been repurposed into an administrative block for the school, never serving the purpose for which it was built.
“Today, the absence of a functional PHC has left thousands of residents without access to essential medical care. For even the most basic health needs, community members are forced to travel long distances often at great cost and risk.
“We implore your office and the Federal Ministry of Health Nigeria, to facilitate the construction of healthcare facilities across these communities,” Tracka wrote on its official Facebook page.
