A Respectful Appeal for Equity, Fairness, and Internal Democracy
Your Excellency,
The Executive Governor of Ogun State
and Leader of Our Great Party in the State
Sir,
I write to you with utmost respect and a deep sense of responsibility as a loyal party faithful who believes strongly in the ideals of justice, equity, and democratic principles upon which our great party stands.
Your Excellency, it is in this spirit that I humbly express concern regarding the ongoing conversations around the adoption of a consensus candidate from either Odeda or Obafemi Owode Local Government. While consensus as a political tool is not inherently wrong, its application must reflect fairness, balance, and inclusiveness, especially in a politically conscious zone like Ogun Central senatorial district.
Granting such a position( senate ) to Odeda Local Government, which already holds the office of the State Chairman of our party, raises questions about equity and fair distribution of political opportunities. Concentration of key positions within the same axis may unintentionally send a message that inclusiveness is being overlooked, and that political considerations are not being balanced for the collective good of all stakeholders.
Similarly, Obafemi Owode Local Government, having already secured representation at the Federal House of Representatives level, may not represent the most equitable choice at this time. In the spirit of fairness and broader inclusion, it would be more justifiable to consider other local governments within the zone that are yet to benefit from such strategic political opportunities.
Local governments such as Ifo and Abeokuta North present viable alternatives where the principle of equity can be visibly upheld, thereby strengthening unity within the party and reinforcing public confidence in our leadership.
Your Excellency, democracy thrives on participation, open competition, and the confidence of the people. The concept of consensus should not be perceived as imposition, but rather as a product of wide consultation and genuine agreement among stakeholders. When this perception is lost, it risks discouraging party members, especially the younger generation who look up to the system with hope and expectation.
It is also important that political progression within our system does not appear restricted or monopolized. Opportunities should be seen as accessible through merit, service, and credibility, not limited by recurring patterns that may unintentionally create dissatisfaction among party faithful.
Your leadership has consistently demonstrated a commitment to development and stability, and it is on this basis that I appeal for careful reconsideration of this matter in a way that promotes fairness, inclusiveness, and unity across Ogun Central senatorial district.
I remain confident that under your guidance, decisions will continue to reflect the best interests of the party and the good people of Ogun State.
Thank you, Your Excellency, for your attention and continued service.
Yours faithfully,
Concerned Party Faithful
Ogun central senatorial district.
